Barbara Jean Austin DeGolia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 23, 2021 in her home at Summit Park Assisted Living in Jackson, MI. She was the daughter of Byron Bishop and Jewel Austin born on May 23, 1930 in Pontiac, MI. She is survived by her husband of 70+ years, Charles T. DeGolia; children: Deanne DeGolia (Don) Rajala, Cheree DeGolia (Tom Faulkner), Cindy (Bill) Hirschman, and Pamela DeGolia (Tim Wilkerson); 8 grandchildren: Joslyn (Joshua) Dunham, Joel (Lindsay) Bush, Charles (Laurie) Rajala, Brett (Erin) Rajala, Joe (Juls) Hirschman, Jennifer (Matthew) Reinhardt, John (Carrie) Hirschman, and Kimberly Olson; 11 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Lucas, Allison, Charles, Frances, Hailey, Olivia, Bennett, Evelyn, Emily, and Troy; sister Carolyn (Rick) Worel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy. Barbara worked as a seamstress, teacher and banker. She enjoyed sail boating, reading, golfing, swimming and dancing. But most of all she loved her husband and daughters.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at First Presbyterian Church, 743 W. Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11 AM. There will be visitation beginning at 10 AM until the time of service.
