Of Jackson, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the age of 84. He was the son of Roy and Edith Hestwood, born September 27, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. William was a loving and proud family man survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet (Sanderson) Hestwood; three children, Jeffrey (Zofia Sperka) of Plymouth, MI, Michael (Annie) of Jackson, Michigan, and Jennifer Kruger (Richard) of Bristow, Virginia; five grandchildren, Gabriella, Mallory, and Riley Hestwood, and Kelsey and Morgan Kruger; two step-grandchildren, Wojtek Sperka (Sarah) and Anna Sperka of Wroclaw, Poland; and his brother, Richard (Carolyn) Hestwood. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine McMicking.
William received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army and served in the National Guard. Upon graduation, William was a teacher for the Jackson Public School system. He practiced Real Estate for over 50 years and served as past President of the Jackson Area Board of Realtors. William was currently employed by Production Realty. He was an official for the MHSAA for over 50 years. William was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and vacationing with friends and family.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 733 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI 49201 on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. James D. Hegedus officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society, or charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 3:00-6:00p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service at 11:00a.m.
