Of Jackson, Michigan passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home where he celebrated his 101st birthday on July 21, 2019. Steve was the son of Stephen and Ethel (Williams) Caudill Sr. born July 21, 1918 in Riceville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Nora Jean Stone; infant son, Danny Caudill; grandson, Justin Caudill; great-great-granddaughter, Avalynn Jean Howard; his parents; one special son-in-law, Jerry Hughes; seven siblings. Steve is survived by seven children, Priscilla (Claude) Deatrick, Dean (Mary) Caudill, Virginia Hughes, Donald Caudill, Barbara Soulliere, Jennell (Timothy) Booth Sr. and Tensel Heiler; 21 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. Steve served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Steve moved from Kentucky in 1934 to Stockbridge and later lived in Chelsea and Jackson. He farmed onions in Stockbridge, built bridges on 127 N in Jackson in the 50’s and worked on Jiffy Mix silos in the 60’s, he retired as a carpenter. He dearly loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren where he once took 13 young grandchildren to the Detroit Tiger ball game by himself hand in hand. Steve enjoyed classic cars, gardening, and playing cards. Steve never met a stranger. He accepted Christ as his Savior in the 70’s and attended North Sharon Bible Church. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 12:00pm, Pastor Timothy Booth Sr. officiating, interment Hillcrest Memorial Park following. The family would like to thank Dr. Jon Lake and all the staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home for their wonderful care of our father for the 18 months he was there. The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Chapel on Monday from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00pm.
