Richard Earl Stevens Jr. of Horton, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health at the age of 80. Mr. Stevens was the son of Richard Earl and Rosalie Julia (Dalton) Stevens Sr. born July 6, 1938 in Jackson, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Stevens; four children, Richard (June) Stevens III, Robert (Brian) Stevens, Kathleen (Jeff) Nixon and Kelly (Robert) Mantek; 11 grandchildren, Niki Kish, Anthony(Sherry) Stevens, Austin (Bre) Stevens, Audrianna (Jake) Kocan, Matthew Stevens, J D (Jenni) Nixon, Justin Nixon, Dominic Nixon, Kelsy (Drake) Mitchell, Abigail Mantek and Ethan Mantek; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Gibbons; brother-in-law, John Harmon; several nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Jackson Community College. He retired from Consumers Energy after 38 years of service. He was a member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, two terms on Jackson City Council and the ROMEO’S. Dick enjoyed fishing, pontooning with his family, gardening, woodworking, golfing, bowling and story-telling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00am, Father Timothy MacDonald officiating, interment Monday, July 1, 2019 at 9:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church 1111 Carlton Blvd, Jackson, MI 49203.
The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm, Saturday prayer at the chapel at 10:00am, with procession to church following.
