R J Watson

Of Jackson, MI peacefully passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the age of 85. He was the son of James J and Irene Florence (Bauer) Watson, born December 2, 1933 in Jackson, MI. R.J is survived by his wife, Minnie; his beautiful daughters, Pam Gier, Becky Humphrey, Mindy DeBoe, Tina Dane, Lorrie (Lonnie) Smith, and Dawn (Mel) Rayburn; step-daughters, Darice (Bill) Tevebaugh and Donna (Bob) Condra; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 7 step-grandchildren; sister, Phillis Hazeres; three brothers, RD (Kathy) Watson, JD (Shirlie) Watson, and Jerry Watson Sr. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Ann Watson; son, Russell John Watson; his parents; and sister, Elaine Taylor. R.J. was a graduate of St. Mary High School Class of 1952 and attended MSU. He started his working career as a farm hand, then became a lineman at Clark Equipment, a Foreman at Fleming Co., a Mechanic at Jackson Transit, and a custodian at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He also performed many side jobs over the years with many friends and family. R.J. was a “Jack of All Trades and a Master of None”. A celebration of his life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 10:30 am; Father Tim Nelson officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.   \

The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm.
