Mary Jane Willis

Mary Jane (Bowles) Willis of Jackson, MI went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Arbor Manor Rehabilitation and Care Center at the age of 92. Mary was the daughter of Keith H. and Mary J. (Bragan) Bowles born November 27, 1926 in Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Willis Sr.; her daughter Carol Jean; grandson; Timothy Thompson; her parents; one brother; one sister. She is survived by three children, Charles C. (Lisa) Willis Jr.; Sandra K. (Glenn) Chinavare and James A. (Renee) Willis; seven grandchildren, Corey J. Willis, Brandon M. Willis, Neil D. Chinavare, Melissa J, (Adam) Finkbeiner, Ross M. Chinavare, Nicholas J. Willis and Nicole A Thompson; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special son-in-law, Terry Thompson; special cousin, Jean C. Showers.

Mary was a graduate of Lincoln Park High School. She was a secretary for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for many years, then finished her working career up at State Farm Insurance Company. She was a member of Parma Baptist Church and former longtime member of First Baptist Church Lincoln Park. Mom was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, reading, sewing, teaching the piano and Sunday School. Mary dearly loved her church family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 1:00pm, Pastor Richard Griffith officiating, interment Spring Arbor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parma Baptist Church Roof Fund 10320 E. Michigan Avenue, Parma, MI 49269.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Watson Funeral Chapel and again on Saturday from 12:00pm until the time of service.
