Of Spring Arbor, MI went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2018 at the age of 87. Marjorie was the daughter of Lewis and Flossie Yarmer, born February 19, 1931 in Knox, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ethel (Melvin) McMinn formerly of Parma, MI; one brother, Louis (Pat) Yarmer of Stanford, Kentucky. Marjorie is survived by her nephew, Marlin (Doris) McMinn of Parma; grand-nephew, Matthew McMinn of Parma; grand-niece, Shawn Freed of Parma; a great-great-niece, Tiffany Detgen; great-great-nephews, Kyle and Dakota Jackson; and two great-great-great-nephews, Connor and Liam Detgen of Concord. She was a graduate of Spring Arbor Junior College and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Her Master’s Degree was received from Michigan State University. Marjorie began her teaching career at Woodville School which later became part of Wester School District. She taught for 31 years in Jackson Public Schools. Marjorie had the privilege of touring Scandinavia with International Reading Association. She taught English as a second language during the summer of 1993 at the Foshan Teachers College in Guangdong Province, China. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00am at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, 120 E. Main St., Spring Arbor, MI 49283; Pastor Darold L. Hill and Pastor Ralph Bramley officiating. Interment at Spring Arbor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Marjorie may be made to World Vision and International Child Care of the Free Methodist Church. Marjorie had sponsored many children with World Vision for many years.
The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm and on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the church from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
