Lois Morey Obituary

Lois Marie (Smith) Morey, 85, passed away Friday night, October 18th, 2019.  Her dementia struggle is over and she once again joins her husband of 65 years, Marv, who passed in 2017.  Lois was also preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Harriet Smith; her sister, Marion (Cliff, deceased) Corbett of Hanover; and an infant brother.  She is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Dan) Reed of McMillan, and Pam (Rodney) Patterson of Jackson; two nieces, Sherry (Jim) Day of Litchfield, and Margie (Steve, deceased) Swartout of Texas; two grandsons, Justin and Michael, nine great-grandchildren,  two great-great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Pebbles.

Mom was a Concord High School graduate, married Dad in 1952, and was a modern full-time working wife and mother having worked at Consumers Power, Parma-Western Schools, and finally as secretary to the superintendent at Concord Schools.  She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many early years and at local hospitals later in life.

Mom and Dad shared a love of car racing, boating, and travel. Throughout the years, they took their girls camping across the United States and Canada, spent a summer driving to Alaska and back, and visited Mom's constant pen pal from high school in England. Upon retiring they went full time RVing around the states before settling in Kerrville, the Hill Country, in the great state of Texas.  Due to health reasons they returned to Jackson in 2016.

Throughout her life, Mom was a fantastic cook and baker, and an immaculate housekeeper.  Dad always joked how once a year she would make him take the siding off the house so she could clean behind it.  She also loved garage sales, flowers, crossword puzzles and doing for others, and always had a dog.

We praise God for answering her prayer of wanting to be with Dad again.  We also thank Angie and the caring people of Elara Caring Hospice and her caretakers at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility, especially Rex, whom we appreciate so much.

Cremation has taken place, and she and Dad will forever be together.  Graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord, on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 12:00pm with Michael D. Mason officiating.

Memorials should be directed to Elara Caring of Jackson or the Jackson County Animal Shelter.  And remember to hug your parents.
