89, passed peacefully on December 7th, 2019 surrounded by family at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, MI. Joyce was the daughter of Gerald and Hazel Huff and was born in Jackson, Michigan. Joyce is survived by her children Linda (Michael) Whitney, Bryon (Elisa) Way, her daughter in-law Lura (Steven) Way, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Lewis Way (2017) and Theodore Psychas (1955) and sons Steven and Matthew Way, her brother Dale and sister in-law Sandy, as well as her parents. Joyce graduated from Jackson High in 1948 and maintained a close relationship with many of those classmates through the Club 54, of which she was a founding member. She was an extremely patient woman with incredible resilience and a sense of humor that she carried into her final days. These qualities served her well in her role as a classroom aid at Lyle Torrant Center and later as a clerk in Jacobson’s Store for the Home. After retirement, she and Lew enjoyed many winters, camping at Gulf Shores, AL with several newly found friends. A woman of quiet elegance, she always made the effort to look her best, even though she woke up every morning as a natural beauty. She loved people and her kindness and thoughtfulness shone through in her relationships with her friends and neighbors, but especially her family. She made each of her four children feel as though they were truly her favorite. Her wit, fun personality and natural curiosity made her easy to talk to, resulting in many friends and grandchildren that loved to visit with her over popcorn and other goodies. She was fortunate enough to be visited by all of those grandchildren in the days and weeks before her death, and she enjoyed one final Thanksgiving, surrounded by family, listening to stories and watching videos of her newest great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 11:00 am at the New Horizon Community Church, 4300 Lansing Ave, Jackson, MI, with visitation at 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.
