After a heroic battle with an aggressive cancer, Jimmie C. Baxter of Homer, Michigan passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Baxter; and their daughters, Sarah Davis and Anna Wilson.
Jimmie was born on July 29, 1947 in Niles, Michigan to Clifford and Fern Baxter. During the Vietnam War, Jimmie proudly served in the United States Army for two years in active duty and two years in the National Guard. He received an honorable discharge for his dedicated service. Jimmie was skilled and talented in many trades including machining, carpentry and auto mechanics.
Jimmie married Mary Bailey on November 4, 1968. They settled in Homer, Michigan where they raised their two children; Sarah and Anna.
Jimmie was a compassionate man with an unmatched work ethic. He enjoyed repairing and riding scooters, watching Nascar racing, fishing and airsoft games with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, two children and five grandchildren; Hunter, Ashton, Kohen, Ethan and Jase. As well as his sisters, Wanita, Carolyn, Sandy and Pam; his brothers Sonny and Dick; Son-in-laws Steve Wilson and Spenser Davis and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: sisters, Donna and Nancy; brothers, Ronnie and Terry.
Jimmie requested to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Albion, Michigan on Saturday, July 20th at 2:00 P.M. followed by a banquet to celebrate Jimmie’s life; all are welcome.
