James Allen Niemi

75, of Jackson, MI, formerly of Crystal Falls, MI, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI. Jim was the son of Ole and Margaret Niemi, born November 14, 1942 in Crystal Falls, MI. He is survived by his loving wife, Susanne, of 53 years; three children, Christopher (Sandy) Niemi, Pamela (Tim) Ehlert, and Brian (Sabra) Niemi; six grandchildren, Niklas, Steffanie, Ryan Grace, Nathan, Colin, and Zachary; sister, Muriel (Robert) Graham. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol. He was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School. Following high school, he attended Michigan Technological University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Jim worked at Consumers Energy in Jackson where he retired after 30 years of service. He loved Crystal Falls, MI, the Detroit Lions, fishing, and spending time with his family. A private family graveside service will take place in Crystal Falls, MI on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Parkinson Foundation, and United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls, 506 Superior Ave., Crystal Falls, MI 49920.
