Of Jackson, MI went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Ray and Maude (Prater) Salyers, born April 24, 1935 in Salyersville, KY. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Clifford Walker; three children, Brenda (Barry) Bos, Pam Griffith (Bob Bandeen), and Tim (Jackie) Stone; son in-law, Craig Wilcox; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Silas Salyers; sister, Pauline Burnette; and special niece, Donna Schweikert. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Stone; daughter, Rebecca Wilcox; and her parents.
Evelyn was the founder of the Twin Maples Adult Foster Care in Jackson, where she managed and worked for over 35 years. She enjoyed cooking, spending winters in Florida, home improvement projects, helping others, and spending time with her family. Evelyn was a member of the Elks #113 and the Sebring, FL Lodge #1529. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 12:00pm. A private family inurnment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Stockbridge at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Evelyn may be made to Down’s Syndrome Association, 1460 Renaissance Dr., Suite 102, Park Ridge, IL 60068. The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm.
