Eleanor Grace Robinson, age 97, died peacefully on August 26, 2018, at Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan, with loved ones at her side. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be at 12:30pm on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan with full honors.
Eleanor was born to John P and Mae S Jones May 31, 1921. After High School she worked as a Operator Supervisor at Michigan Bell. In Jan 1943 she enlisted in the Navy, where she trained pilots in the Navy during World War II, reaching the rank of Specialist First Class. She raised 4 children in Jackson with former spouse, the late David Robinson. Later she was married to former spouse Ernest Platt.
In 1983 she retired from Michigan Bell. She was an active member and past officer of WAVES National and a member of the American Legion. She loved golf and traveling, relishing her trip to Scotland where she golfed on St Andrews. She enjoyed extensively researching her ancestry, highlighted by a visit to Wales.
Eleanor is predeceased by her brother Robert and sister Evelyn, daughter Pamela, son-in-law David Lauwers, and grandchildren Barbara and Sean. She is survived by her children David (Sheryl) Robinson, Judi Lauwers, Jan (Steve) Fater, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
