Of Orlando Florida, formerly of Jackson, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his home in Orlando, Florida at the age of 64. Dr. Mayo was the son of Joseph Alfred and Irene (Bilyeau) Mayo born November 19, 1954 in Dearborn, Michigan. He is survived by three children, Chelsea Mayo and her fiancé Nicholas Hall, Steven Mayo, and David Mayo; two grandchildren, Braylon and Olivia; mother of his children, Stephanie Schuur; sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Joan Barry; nieces, Erin (Fraser) Watson, Breanne Barry, Kristen Brooks-King, Jodi Field Mott, Chloe Field, Lauren Nilsson, and Mallory Syrjamaki; nephews Nicholas Field, Nathan Field and Noah Field; numerous cousins; best friends, Dr. Jerry Tecjek, John Salov, Frank Pomarico, Dr. Michael Hughes, Brad Chapman and Gene Haskett.. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dr. Mayo was a graduate of Dearborn High School, University of Michigan and National College of Chiropractic School. He held his practice in Michigan Center for over 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing, the ocean, and U of M football “Go Blue.” According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 11:00am, Michael D. Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service.
