Donna Eleanor (Whims) Johnson

Of Spring Arbor, MI went home to be with her Lord Friday, May 31, 2019 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center at the age of 91. Donna was the daughter of Reverend Silas Ray and Mildred Lenore (Bailey) Whims born November 12, 1927 in Carsonville, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Elwin Johnson; four children, Doug (Corliss) Johnson, Ted (Mary) Johnson, Ed (Janice) Johnson, Marcia (Steve) Murphy; 10 grandchildren, Alana (John) Tubiolo, Kelly (Neal) Gray, Cortney (Ryan) Knoll, Kacey (Greg) Litz, Claire (Troy) Hughes, Erin Johnson, Dr. Matthew (Kerrin) Smith, Amanda (Morne) Stephanus, Edy (Aaron) Cozort, Christine Johnson; 22 great-grandchildren with one expecting, Avery Michelle Stephanus in late September; brother, Fred (Annette) Whims; and many dear nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, and brother in-laws. She was a graduate of Spring Arbor High School. Donna worked as a secretary for ACME Industries, then Spring Arbor College. Donna was a member of Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene. She loved serving the Lord and helping others. Donna loved her family, especially her grandchildren. It was such a joy to help raise her only grandson, Matt. She enjoyed cooking, golfing, bowling, and her dog, Regal. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center Willows for their wonderful care of Donna. A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at the Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene, 8200 King Rd., Spring Arbor, MI 49283 on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Arbor Church of the Nazarene.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
