83, of Jackson, MI went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at home under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. She was the daughter of Carl and Martha Walter, born December 9, 1934 in Jackson, MI. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard, of 65 years; son, Richard of Jackson; daughter, Julie of Jackson; daughter, Lisa (Dan) of Belleville, MI; sister, Marilyn of Ann Arbor; brother, Tom of Cave Creek Arizona; granddaughter Andrea of Boston, Massachusetts; and granddaughter, Shannon of Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Timothy. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Class of 1952. Carolyn went on to become an executive secretary for several local businesses until she started raising a family. She joined a Child Study Club with several other mothers. Monthly meetings were held to discuss raising children, a once a month party was held to have fun. Carolyn was room mother at Dibble School for Lisa and Julie and for Richard at Bennett School. She was extremely creative, making beautiful floral arrangements, and sewing clothes for her daughters and herself. Carolyn was born to be a mother and good friend and proved that in all that she did. A Memorial Mass will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 11:00am. Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 900 Cooper St., Jackson, MI 49202.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
