Carolyn Battista Obituary

Of Jackson, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Countryside Care Center at the age of 79. Carolyn is survived by two daughters, Tessa (Jonathan) MacGown and Holly (Mike) Tautz; four grandchildren, Jake, Emerson, Nyah and Zachary; three sisters, Sharon Grauerholz, Mary (Ted) Callier, Joanne (Zuhair) Dawood, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph; grandson, Michael Balinski Jr.; her parents, brother-in-law, LaVail Grauerholz; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Lee Koppel. Carolyn was a graduate of Utica High School. She made her mark in the world in her early twenties as an accomplished hair stylist. Clients would stand in line waiting for her creative touches. Later in life, Carolyn used her artistic talents and mastered painting in oils, watercolors, and pastels. She was a fashionista who loved to put her best foot forward and wow the world around her. She adored her husband Ralph, the suave Italian who swept her off her feet. As his ‘Esmeralda,’ she was his jewel. Most importantly, Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and wasn’t afraid to spread His love. She loved to sing hymns to our Lord and to worship him. Carolyn has touched many lives with fun-loving antics, her contagious laugh, and her flare for painting this world with joy. She will certainly be missed by many. According to her wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of her life will be with her husband at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Carolyn may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256
