Betty Jean (Coney) Dobson

Of Spring Arbor, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and husband Thomas, on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the age of 96. Betty was the daughter of George and Lorena (Rineholt) Coney, born November 14, 1921 in Gladwin County at the family farm, delivered by the family doctor arriving by horse and buggy. Betty was preceded in death by loving husband, Thomas; brother, Donald Coney, and her parents. She is survived by two sons, Steve (Jean) Dobson of Spring Arbor, MI, and George Dobson of Ferndale, MI; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nephew, Dennis (Marianne) Coney; niece, Pamela (Greg) Lusk. Betty was a graduate of Three Rivers High School. She attended Ferndale Free Methodist Church, Hillsdale Free Methodist Church, then Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church. Betty was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother who love being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, camping and wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed cooking, loved making holiday meals, sewing, knitting, and loved cats. She was a wonderful person known in later years as the “Cat Lady”. A celebration of her life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 am, Reverend Darold L. Hill officiating, interment Spring Arbor Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for those who wish, may be made to Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
