Joseph Richard “Dick” Haines
Age 95 of Michigan Center, Mi, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL. He was the son of Eddie and Carolyn (Bakle) Haines born on April 19, 1928 in Jackson, MI. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Beverly; his children Joseph (Julie) Haines Jr, Jill Klimmer, Jeffrey (Susan) Haines; son-in-law Terry Wisner; step-children Mary Jo (Steven) Duddy, Terri Kaspryski and Ken (Holly) Plaga; grandchildren Todd (Stacey) Wisner, Allyson (Jim) Apsey, Nicole (Todd) Vanderplow, Jennette (Luke) Rauch, Jodie (Keith) Recker, Jaclyn (Kevin) Cranston, Taryn (Derek) Flint, Michael (Jill) Klimmer, Ashley Peterson, Jeffrey Haines Jr., Miranda (Brad) Sabo, Troy (Ali) Haines, Step Grand Children Matthew and Hope Plaga. 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce of 42 years, his daughter Kipalee, his parents and his siblings Mary Lou, Edward, Jim, Dorothy and Helen.
Dick graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1946. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II, retired from Clark Equipment Co. after 39 years of service and then, Miller Brothers Manufacturing. He was an avid camper, golfer, bowler and enjoyed watching the events and sports activities of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 913 Napoleon Rd, Michigan Center, MI. Monday April 22. 2024 at 10:30 am with visitation at the church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Interment St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fr. Tyler Arens officiating.
Visitation at the Watson Funeral Chapel, Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 4-7 pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima or to Henry Ford Health Hospice, 2150 Kingsbrooke Road, Jackson MI 49202.
